1. Baking Soda

A mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide is a great home remedy for whitening teeth. Baking soda has natural whitening properties and hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleaching agent.

How to use:

  • Make a mixture of one tablespoon of baking soda and two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide.
  • Apply the paste to your toothbrush and brush for 2 minutes.
  • Now rinse your teeth thoroughly with water.

You can try this once or twice a week. Excessive use of this can damage the enamel on your teeth, causing them to lose their whitening properties.

2. Oil Pulling

This process is also very effective. In this process, a layer of oil is formed around the teeth and it removes bacteria and plaque from the teeth. Especially, coconut oil can give good results as it has a pleasant taste and antimicrobial properties.

How to use:

  • You can take one tablespoon of coconut oil or system oil or sunflower oil.
  • Gently rub that oil around your mouth for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • After that wash the mouth thoroughly with water.
  • After that brush as you normally do.

You can do this method once a day, it will improve your overall oral health.

3. Use Alum and Salt

Alum (Fitkari) and salt is an effective method to remove yellow spots. Alum has mild abrasive properties and salt is an antibacterial agent, it is effective for yellow teeth. This is a simple and very effective method.

How to use:

  • Make a mixture of one teaspoon alum powder and salt.
  • Brush this mixture very well with a toothbrush.
  • After brushing for 2 minutes, wash it thoroughly with water.

You can use this remedy once or twice a week. If you are experiencing discoloration or sensitivity, use it less or don’t use it at all. Using it too much can damage the enamel on your teeth.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is an effective home remedy for teeth whitening. Because it contains natural bleaching properties which help in removing stains from the teeth.

How to use:

  • Mix 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar well with half a cup of water.
  • After that, rub that liquid well on your teeth for one to two minutes.
  • After that, rinse your mouth well with water.
  • Now continue brushing as you normally do.

You can use this method 1 to 2 times a week because excessive use can cause tooth enamel decay.

5. Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal has highly absorption properties, it basically helps in removing stains from the teeth. This is a popular method used for teeth.

How to use:

  • Dip your toothbrush in activated charcoal powder.
  • Then brush well for 2 minutes.
  • After that rinse your mouth well until the charcoal is completely removed from the mouth.

This can damage the enamel level, so it should be used in very limited quantity. You can use it once or twice a week.
